Apps
What to install on the phone, depending on your venue plan, and why the wrong app throws you out at sign-in.
What to install
#HaiLa has two restaurant workspaces, Lite and Pro. What you install depends on your team phones and on the venue plan.
| Phone | Venue plan | App in the store | What it opens |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone | Lite | HaiLa for Restaurants Light | The Lite workspace |
| iPhone or iPad | Pro | HaiLa for Restaurants | The Pro workspace |
| Android | Lite | HaiLa for Restaurants Light | The Lite workspace |
| Android | Pro | HaiLa for Restaurants Light, the same app | You pick Lite or Pro the first time you open it |
On Android you install the app called Light even on the Pro plan
Android has a single restaurant app, and in Google Play it is called HaiLa for Restaurants Light. Do not look for another one: the same app contains the Pro workspace. Once installed, the label under the icon differs from the store name: it reads HaiLa for Restaurants, without the word Light, and on a Romanian or Russian phone it reads in that language. It is the same app. On iPhone, by contrast, the two workspaces are two different apps in the App Store.
The Light app is built for iPhone, not for iPad. If your team works from an iPad and the venue is on the Lite plan, use the dashboard in the browser: the day, the reservations and the settings are all there. The Pro app is not the answer, because it will not accept a venue on the Lite plan.
The dashboard is not installed. It opens in a browser at haila.md and works the same on any computer or tablet.
The wrong app on iPhone
#The Pro app will not accept a venue on the Lite plan
If you install HaiLa for Restaurants (the Pro app) and your venue is on the Lite plan, sign-in fails with "You don't have permission to access this app" and you are returned to the sign-in screen. The message appears in English whatever language the app is in. It is not the password and it is not a broken account: it is the plan. Install HaiLa for Restaurants Light and sign in there with the same credentials.
The same message appears when the account has no venue attached to it at all, so if you are on the Pro plan and still cannot get in, write to us and we will check the account access.
If a venue moves from Pro to Lite while someone is working on an iPad, the app closes their session as soon as it learns about the change, not at the next sign-in.
The other way round is not an error, but it does not help either: the Light app for iPhone accepts a venue on the Pro plan, it simply has no Pro workspace at all. No floor plan, no walk-ins, no analytics. On iPhone and iPad there is no switch between the two: for Pro, install the Pro app.
Lite and Pro
#| Workspace | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Lite | Reservations, menu, events, reviews, and essential settings. |
| Pro | Floor operations, planning, analytics, customers, and full restaurant control. |
Lite is the pocket workflow: accept, decline, propose another time, keep the menu and the events current, answer reviews. It has no tables, so it has no floor plan, no table assignment, no walk-ins and no guest records. Pro has all of it.
On Android the app asks once, the first time you open a venue on the Pro plan: Choose your workspace. The choice is remembered for that venue, but you can move between them at any time:
- From Lite, the shortest way: More, then the Pro card. One tap.
- From Lite as well, if you prefer settings: More, then Settings, then Workspace, then the Pro mode switch.
- From Pro: More, then Settings, the same switch, or More, then Profile, where you pick Lite or Pro.
The plan decides, not the phone
The app checks the venue plan on the server every time it loads. Lite is always available. Pro opens only for venues on the Pro plan, and a missing or unknown plan means Lite. If a venue moves from Pro to Lite, the app switches itself to Lite at the next check, even if that phone had been using Pro.
