Cookies
Cookie policy
A few keep HaiLa running. The rest need your consent.
Version 1.1, in force from October 1, 2026
1. In brief
HaiLa uses technologies that are necessary for the website to work and to be secure and, only with your consent, optional technologies to understand how the platform is used.
You can accept or refuse the optional technologies, you can turn them on separately in “Cookie settings” and you can change your choice at any time. Refusing Analytics does not prevent you from using HaiLa’s basic functions.
2. What we mean by cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files saved by the browser. HaiLa also uses similar technologies: the browser’s local storage (localStorage), which remains until it is deleted, session storage (sessionStorage), which lasts as long as the tab is open, and the browser’s database (IndexedDB). In this policy, the term “cookies” is sometimes used in a broad sense and includes these technologies when they are used to store or read information on the device.
In the tables below, each row shows which kind of technology is involved: cookie, local storage or session storage.
3. The categories HaiLa uses
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | They allow authentication, remembering the language, security and the functions requested. They cannot be turned off through the banner if they are strictly necessary for the service requested. |
| Analytics | They help us understand how the site is used and how its features perform. They are off by default and start only after consent. |
| Marketing / advertising | HaiLa does not currently use advertising cookies. If this changes, the policy and the banner will be updated before they are activated. |
In the cookie banner and in “Cookie settings”, the strictly necessary technologies appear under the name “Essential”, and the Analytics category under the name “Analytics”.
4. Strictly necessary cookies and technologies
| Technology | Purpose | Who sets it | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| haila-session (cookie) | Maintains the session and allows secure access to the account. | HaiLa, after you sign in | 5 days |
| haila_locale (cookie) | Remembers the language you selected. | HaiLa, when you choose the language | 1 year |
| haila.consent.v1 (local storage) | Remembers your cookie choice: the decision and its date. | HaiLa, when you answer | Until you clear the site’s data in your browser |
| haila_consent (cookie) | Keeps your cookie choice the same on haila.md and restaurants.haila.md, so you are not asked twice. | HaiLa, when you answer | 1 year |
| haila_theme (local storage) | Remembers the theme chosen, light or dark. | HaiLa, when you choose the theme | Until you clear the site’s data or return to the device theme |
| firebase:authUser:* (local storage) and firebaseLocalStorageDb (the browser’s database) | Keeps you signed in to your account in the browser. | Firebase Authentication (Google) | Until you sign out |
| haila.request.v2.* (session storage) | Keeps the request you are writing (the occasion, the seat, the notes) until you send it. | HaiLa, during booking | As long as the tab is open |
| sentryReplaySession (session storage) | A key for the current tab, used for error diagnostics. A session replay is sent only when an error occurs, with the text masked. | Sentry | As long as the tab is open |
| _GRECAPTCHA (cookie on the Google domain) | The anti-abuse check at sign-in with a phone number. | Google (reCAPTCHA), when you ask for a sign-in code by phone | Set by Google |
In addition to these, the site keeps a few working states in your browser, which are not used for measurement: your recent searches, a key that prevents the same request from being sent twice (24 hours), the draft of an unsent review, the order chosen on the home page, the proof of your reply to an invitation and, if you turn on notifications in the browser, the browser’s notification identifier. On the QR menu, table ordering and invitation pages, the language code is also kept, together with a local copy of the data already displayed.
5. Optional analytics
| Technology | Purpose | Who sets it | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga (cookie) | Measuring the use of the site and distinguishing browsers or devices for statistical purposes. | Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) | The default duration set by Google is up to two years. It is deleted when you withdraw your consent. |
| _ga_* (cookie) | Maintaining state and measuring interactions in Google Analytics 4. | Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) | The default duration set by Google is up to two years. It is deleted when you withdraw your consent. |
| haila.liveTraffic.* (local storage and session storage) | HaiLa’s own measurement, through a random identifier stored in the browser. | HaiLa | Until you withdraw your consent or clear the site’s data. They are deleted when you withdraw your consent. |
These technologies are blocked until you choose “Yes, I accept” in the cookie banner or turn on “Analytics” in “Cookie settings”.
The fact that an identifier does not contain your name does not automatically mean that the information is anonymous. Online identifiers, the IP address and other technical information may constitute personal data.
What exactly HaiLa’s own measurement tool records and how long it keeps this data is described in the Privacy Policy, section 23.
6. Google reCAPTCHA / anti-abuse protection
HaiLa uses Google reCAPTCHA to protect sign-in against automated or abusive use. The check loads only when you ask for a sign-in code by phone, not on every page.
The provider is Google, which receives the IP address and browser signals. Any international transfers are described in the Privacy Policy.
7. The basis for optional technologies
Optional analytics is activated only on the basis of your consent. Consent is separate from the use of the HaiLa service and you can withdraw it at any time.
Strictly necessary technologies are used only to the extent that they are necessary for providing the function requested, for authentication, for security or for keeping a preference requested by the user.
8. How to manage your choice
- On your first visit, the optional technologies are off by default.
- The cookie banner has two buttons of the same size, side by side: “Essential only” and “Yes, I accept” (on restaurants.haila.md: “Only essential” and “Yes, I accept”).
- The permanent “Cookie settings” link in the site’s footer opens, on the very page you are on, two switches: “Essential”, always on, and “Analytics”, which you turn on or off. The choice is saved with “Save my choice”.
- Withdrawing consent is as simple as giving it.
- Turning off Analytics does not affect authentication, restaurant search or the basic functions.
- The choice you make on either site, haila.md or restaurants.haila.md, also applies to the other, so you are asked only once.
9. What happens after you withdraw consent
After withdrawal, measurement stops immediately. HaiLa’s own keys (haila.liveTraffic.*) and the Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_*) are deleted from the browser.
You can also delete the cookies and the site’s data manually in your browser.
10. International transfers and providers
Some third-party services, including Google Analytics or security services, may involve the processing of data outside the Republic of Moldova. The details of the providers, their roles and the transfer mechanisms are described in the HaiLa Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we change the technologies used, the providers, the purposes or the consent categories. If we introduce a new category of optional tracking, it will not be activated before you have received the necessary information and are able to make a valid choice.
